In Ethiopia, AAE works to challenge various forms of power and build capacities to create people agencies of a critical mass of communities especially women and girls living in poverty and exclusion to fulfill their rights, ensure redistribution of resources, and build their resilience. We prioritize working with women and girls and their organizations, networks of civil society organizations, national and local government, and other allies to overcome gender injustice and structural causes of poverty, we engage in national-level policy works to influence the agendas of women and girls to tackle gender injustice. ActionAid Ethiopia (AAE) is implementing the Scaling Child Care to Promote Women’s Economic Empowerment and Child Development project in collaboration with Policy Study Institute (PSI), Addis Ababa Bureau of women, Children & Social Affairs, and Addis Ababa Mayor Office Strategic program management office, with support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and Global affair Canada , aiming to enhance access to quality childcare, support women’s economic participation, and strengthen child development outcomes. For this to be workable model childcare workers play a critical role in the protection, wellbeing and development of children. Despite their essential contribution, many childcare workers face limited opportunities to participate in policy discussions and decision-making platforms that directly affect their work and the quality of childcare services. Strengthening their awareness of their rights, especially the right to be represented and meaningfully engaged in relevant forums, is essential in ensuring improved service delivery, enhanced accountability and more inclusive policy processes. This awareness-raising initiative is implemented under the Scaling Child Care Project, with technical and knowledge contributions informed by studies conducted by Policy study institutes (PSI). The PSI study provides evidence on childcare service gaps, workforce challenges, and inclusiveness in service delivery, which directly informs the design of this capacity-building intervention. Objective Overall objective of the training is to enhance childcare workers’ awareness and capacity to exercise their rights to represent and participate, while promoting inclusive, equitable, and disability-responsive childcare service delivery through strengthened skills and collective engagement Scope of Work The consultant will: Facilitate participatory training sessions for childcare workers Deliver sessions on: – Rights and legal frameworks – Representation and participation mechanisms – Collective voice and organizing – Advocacy and communication skills – Inclusive and disability-responsive childcare services – Apply participatory and adult-learning methodologies – Support reflection, dialogue, and group learning processes Application Requirement The consultant should demonstrate the following requirements in their application to be considered. June, 2026 Background The Consortium of Ethiopian Human Rights Organizations (CEHRO) is a network of 27 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working on human rights, democracy, and Peace building in Ethiopia. Over the past seven years, CEHRO has been actively engaged in the advancement of human rights protection and promotion in Ethiopia by creating a common platform for human rights CSOs to articulate their voices and launch well-articulated and evidence-based advocacy to expand civic space. The overall goal of the project is to strengthen and promote inclusive transitional justice processes in Ethiopia that foster healing, accountability, and reconciliation among affected communities. As part of the project, the American Friends Service Committee conducted researches on “Assessment of the Critical Success Factors from Implementing Successful Transitional Justice Mechanisms in Ethiopia” and “The Added Value of Psychosocial Support on Sustainable Peacebuilding in Ethiopia”. In line with this, CEHRO is planning to organize a consultation with representatives from CSOs, local authorities, FBOs, on the researches already conducted by AFSC. In this context, CEHRO is seeking a qualified consultant/translator to translate the summaries of the two research reports from English into Amharic and Afan Oromo. The successful candidate will deliver accurate, fluent, and context-aware translations that are culturally appropriate, socially resonant, and free of errors. Objective The objectives of this translation are to: Produce a high-quality translation of the research reports into Amharic and Afan Oromo. Ensure that the translation is accurate, fluent, error free and is not direct or non-contextualized google translation. Make the reports accessible to a wider audience of Amharic and Afan Oromo language readers. Scope The scope of work for this translation includes: Translation of the entire research reports,including all text, tables, figures, references and other visuals. Editing of the translated research report to ensure accuracy, fluency, and cultural appropriateness. Deliverables and Activities The deliverables for this translation are: A complete and final translation of the two research reports in Amharic and Afan Oromo languages in softcopy. For none firm or individual consultant: At least a master’s degree level education in any of the following fields: Amharic Language, Literature and Folklore, Journalism and Communications, Linguistics, Language Translation, Law, Human Rights, International Law, Public Policy and Administration, Governance, Development Studies, Political Science and International Relations or related fields of study. Experience and Skills The firm team/ individual translator must have the following qualifications: Fluency in Amharic and Afan Oromo. Excellent proficiency in English. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food for Progress Ethiopia SunGold project (SunGold) implemented by RTI International (RTI) targets Ethiopia’s underdeveloped sunflower sector using a U.S.-led value chain approach that benefits the United States and Ethiopia. The SunGold project will increase sunflower production and yields in Ethiopia through strategic partnerships that leverage U.S. technology (e.g. seed, equipment), build the capacity of both small- and large-scale Ethiopian farmers, and unlock access to finance through contract farming and new loan products. The purpose of this consultancy is to conduct an organizational capacity assessment of 20 selected organizations in three regions of Ethiopia and to develop practical, organization-specific capacity development plans that will guide SunGold’s future technical assistance and capacity development support. The results of this assignment are to establish a baseline for tracking organizational performance improvement over time and tailored capacity development plans for each participating organization. Minimum Requirements: This assignment is open to consultancy firms only.
